2019 Seminar in the Woods Update – Bus Full

Dear Friends,

The bus for Friday, March 8, is now FULL. If you sent me a check, make sure it was cashed. If you have a Check you think might be in transit, email me at dpowell334@aol.com so I can make sure you are on the list. As of right now, only one person has informed me that they still have a check on the way, and he fills the bus. waud_chickamauga

Also, I have arranged for Lunch on Friday. We will be deep in McLemore’s Cove on Friday, far from available eats, so I have arranged food with Pigeon Mountain Grill, right at Davis’s Crossroads. Pork BBQ and Tea.

So no need to bring lunch.

To repeat: THE BUS ON FRIDAY IS FULL.

Of course, there is no limit on attendance for Saturday. Please come join us.

    Good Evening Sir,
Just returned home from Chickamauga/Chattanooga where my g-g-grandfather commanded the 30th GA: LtCol James S. Boynton. Are you aware of any additional material on the 30th? LtCol Boynton served briefly as Georgia’s governor after the war, but I have not yet any found wartime records.

    • Dave Powell Says:

Kevin, The park actually has Boynton’s official report for the battle, which was not included in the official records. There is a small regimental history, A. P. Adamson, “Brief History of the 30th Georgia,” 1912, Savannah Daily Republican for Sept 30, 1863, has a list of casualties.
