CCNMP Study Group Update

Heads up if you hope to attend the Study Group on Friday – we stand at 49 pre-registered. The bus is almost completely full. It seats a maximum of 55. Walk-on space will be extremely limited, if any is available at all. We are very nearly sold out. If you hope to attend the Friday session, consider this LAST CALL. seats will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I will post here when we officially sell out.

Of course, Saturday has no attendence limit, since we will be on foot.

thanks again for your support.

I am very much looking forward to the trip! I am also hoping to make at least one critical pass through Moore’s new biography of Rosecrans coming out on the 28th before we step off. Rosey is one of my favorites and I have very much looked forward to this new treatment.

    God bless.

Thank you so much for all this information. My father’s g-grandfather Jacob Washington Bartmess (whose letters home during the war were published in Indiana History Magazine in 2 editions in 1956) was in the 29th/8th Indiana. have been tracing the dates in those letters and aligning them with Civil War timelines and you shed much light on their role as mounted infantrymen. Was glad to see that although not part of WIlder’s Brigade that they fought beside him at the Glenn House etc etc. So much to learn. In the end, I hope to complete a narrative of Jacob’s war experience as best as I can put together. One little question, do you know of any photographs of the 29th/8th Indiana?

Melanie, note that it is actually the 39th Indiana Infantry/8th Cavalry in which your ancestor served. As for pictures, I would make my first stop the Indiana Historical Society, which has a large photo collection. I don’t know how many they have of your ggfs unit, but I bet they have some.
